chance of acid rain increasing in australia
The chance of acid rain in Australia is VERY LOW!!! :)
This is indeed very good news, the fact of the matter is that this may be temporary. Australia is a fairly recent country; the introduction of machinery that release pollutants in the air was around 1854 when the first steam train was introduced, and there wasn't ever a significant amount of people. Since the time of steam trains which create a magnitude of harmful pollutants that enter the atmosphere, other machinery and vehicles which still burn fossil-fuels in different forms, usually unleaded fuel (since 1986, before then motor fuel contained lead which is a harmful pollutant and causes lead poisoning in people). Since Australia doesn't have a high population, meaning not an incredible amount of pollutants being released.

The readings for acid rain are highest in areas with smelter or power stations. All cities in Australia spread out, which reduces the risk of rain becoming acidic. Australia is also very isolated from neighboring countries. This means that problems of acid rain or air pollution in other countries does not contribute to the acidity of our rain. Things can become worse for Australia if we continue to make mistakes that already have occurred in countries that do have a greater chance of acid rain. Reducing the amount of pollutants in our atmosphere will keep Australia healthy. |
